Father, 4 Children Die After Boat Capsizes In Kandahar's Dahla Dam
Kandahar police spokesman Mullah Asadullah Jamshid told Pajhwok on Thursday that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
He said Noor Ahmad and his four young children - two sons and two daughters - died in the incident, while his brother's daughter was rescued.
Eyewitnesses said Noor Ahmad had gone to Dahla Dam with his children for an outing when their boat overturned.
Dahla Dam attracts many visitors for recreation, with some taking boat rides on the reservoir. However, local residents said the boats lack life jackets and other essential safety and rescue equipment for emergencies.
