Over 50 Ukrainians Reported Missing In Nepal Floods MFA
“The Foreign Ministry received a report this morning that contact had been lost with a group of 46 Ukrainian tourists in the disaster area. According to the Nepal Tourist Police, as of now, a total of 53 Ukrainian citizens are considered missing as a result of the natural disaster,” the ministry said.
In addition, the ministry said, eight reports had been received on the Foreign Ministry's hotline from relatives who had lost contact with people on the aforementioned list.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the Ukrainian embassies in India and China are maintaining contact with the competent authorities in their respective host countries regarding search operations that could determine the whereabouts of Ukrainian citizens.
“At the same time, as of now, there is no information indicating that any Ukrainian citizens are among those killed or injured,” the ministry said.
At the instruction of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, the Ukrainian embassies in India and China are using the personal information already available on the missing Ukrainians to establish contact with them and take other necessary steps.
Ukraine's honorary consul in Nepal is also involved in the efforts on the ground.
The Foreign Ministry, its Consular Service Department, and the Ukrainian embassies in India and China are seeking additional information and coordinating with foreign authorities to locate the Ukrainians and provide information and assistance to their relatives.
