Kuwait Denounces Israeli Breach of Syrian Territory
(MENAFN) Kuwait denounces the unauthorized entry of Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz into Syrian territory, saying the move breaches Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as international law.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry says it “condemns the entry of an official of the Israeli occupation into the territory of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic in an illegal manner.”
The ministry says the incident violates Syria’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity, international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.”
Kuwait urges the international community and the UN Security Council to “assume their responsibilities” by taking action to stop Israel’s repeated attacks and pressuring it to withdraw immediately from Syrian territory.
The Gulf state also reiterates its “firm and supportive position” regarding Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and stability.
During his visit to Syrian territory on Tuesday, Katz says Israel “will not leave Mount Hermon or the security zone as long as there are jihadist threats to the State of Israel,” according to his office.
Israeli forces took control of the buffer zone in December 2024, prompting Damascus to accuse Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between the two countries.
Israel has maintained control over most of the Golan Heights since 1967.
