Jordan's Exports To Kenya Jump To $54M In Five Months

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) and Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) met the Kenyan economic delegation on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen economic and trade ties, expand business-to-business contacts and explore new trade and investment partnerships.

Industry

Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) President Fathi Jaghbir said the sharp increase in exports reflects growing economic ties between the two countries and points to further potential for Jordanian companies in the Kenyan market.

Jordan's exports to Kenya reached around $54 million in the first five months of 2026, compared with $2 million in the same period last year, as businesses from both countries explore opportunities to expand trade and investment partnerships.

His remarks came during a meeting organised by the chamber with representatives of Kenya's manufacturing sector, attended by Jordan's Economic and Commercial Attaché in Nairobi Maram Makhamreh.

Jaghbir said the growth in exports provides a basis for broadening bilateral economic relations beyond trade, including through joint industrial and investment projects.

He called for stronger direct links between manufacturers and businesses in both countries, as well as greater exchange of expertise and cooperation in developing products that meet market demand.

Pharmaceuticals, garments, chemicals and food industries were identified as sectors with potential for increased cooperation between Jordanian and Kenyan companies.

Commerce

The meeting brought together Kenyan business leaders and representatives from the food, services, consulting, health, pharmaceutical, medical supplies, construction and building materials sectors, alongside Makhamreh, according to a JCC statement.

JCC Foodstuff Sector Representative Jamal Amro called for capitalising on available opportunities to boost bilateral trade and establish direct partnerships between Jordanian and Kenyan companies, particularly in the food sector. He also stressed the need to identify Kenyan products and opportunities available to Jordanian importers and traders.

Ibrahim Nawaiseh, JCC Construction and Building Materials Sector Representative, highlighted the importance of direct meetings between private-sector representatives in identifying opportunities that could develop into joint businesses and projects.

He pointed to scope for cooperation in construction, building materials, engineering services and contracting, noting that Jordanian companies have accumulated expertise in these fields that could support stronger ties with Kenyan firms. Nawaiseh also called for the exchange of information on projects, investment opportunities and tenders to help companies in both countries access new markets.

Kenyan companies outlined their areas of activity, including trade facilitation, exhibitions and conferences, trade missions, agriculture, and exports of tea, flowers and fresh produce. Their activities also include meat and livestock, grains and pulses, coffee and nuts, agricultural logistics, engineering, contracting, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and cleaning products.

The talks also addressed ways to increase business contacts, encourage trade delegations and missions, promote participation in specialised exhibitions and economic events, and connect Jordanian and Kenyan companies according to their sectoral interests.
