Kremlin Confirms Security Contacts During CIA Chief’s Moscow Visit
(MENAFN) The Kremlin says CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s unannounced trip to Moscow involved communication between Russian and US security agencies.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirms that the visit, which took place a day earlier, included contact through intelligence and security channels. “I can only tell you that there were contacts through special services,” Peskov told reporters during a briefing in Moscow.
Flight-tracking data shows that a US Air Force C-17A Globemaster III traveled from Riga to Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on Tuesday after previously arriving in the Latvian capital from the United States. The aircraft later left Moscow and returned to Riga the same day.
When questioned about reports of a US military aircraft landing in Moscow, Peskov initially said he had “no such information.”
Reports later indicated that Ratcliffe was in Moscow for meetings, citing people familiar with the matter.
Separate reports also claimed that Washington had informed Kyiv about an upcoming visit by a senior US delegation to Moscow and asked Ukrainian authorities to halt attacks until the delegation departed.
Neither the US government nor the CIA has publicly commented on Ratcliffe’s visit.
