Fifty Injured In Fireworks Explosion During Celebrations In Spain
Madrid: Fifty people were injured on Wednesday after fireworks exploded during local celebrations in Noain, Navarre, northern Spain.
The Navarre Health Department said 47 people received treatment at a health center in Noain, all with minor injuries. Three men were taken to hospital with burns; two were later discharged, while the third remains in stable condition receiving treatment for burns to his hands.
The incident occurred shortly after a firework was launched to mark the start of the celebrations, when several rockets ignited inside a balcony of the town hall and exploded in an area crowded with people, according to a statement from the Elorz Valley Municipality, which includes Noain.
Firefighters, ambulance and medical teams, along with local police, Navarre police and the Civil Guard, responded to the scene. The Civil Guard is investigating the incident.
