Bernstein Forecasts Bitcoin Will Reach $150,000 By Mid-2027
Looking further out, Bernstein sees Bitcoin hitting $300,000 U.S. at the peak of the next bull cycle in 2029.
In a note to clients, Bernstein argues that a broader "debasement trade" is likely to provide a tailwind for the largest cryptocurrency.
Analyst Gautam Chhugani said the 40-year era of declining interest rates has come to an end, with governments facing rising debt-servicing costs as America's debt hits $40 trillion U.S.
Bernstein said that policymakers are likely to favour currency debasement over fiscal stress, potentially increasing demand for scarce assets that cannot be easily created or diluted, such as Bitcoin.
Other factors likely to push Bitcoin's price higher include wider institutional adoption and a favourable regulatory environment, says Bernstein's Chhugani.
The analyst adds that increased participation through spot Bitcoin ETFs and corporate treasury buying are also likely to boost the price of BTC moving forward.
Bitcoin's price has risen 25% over the last week to trade at just over $80,000 U.S. in recent days. BTC is trading at $78,400 U.S. on Aug. 26.
