Iran, Oman FMs Hold Talks on Bilateral Relations, Regional issues
(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi meets with his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi in Tehran on Tuesday to discuss relations between the two countries and developments across the region.
Albusaidi travels to the Iranian capital as part of continuing political consultations between Tehran and Muscat, according to reports.
The discussions focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation while addressing a range of regional developments. Iranian officials say the talks are part of an ongoing diplomatic process designed to maintain regular communication between the neighboring countries.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei says the Omani minister’s visit is intended to deepen cooperation and sustain political consultations between Iran and Oman, which both have coastlines along the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
The consultations also seek to support greater peace and stability across the region, particularly as tensions remain high around the waterway.
The latest meeting takes place as Iranian and Omani officials continue discussions over arrangements related to the Strait of Hormuz, a major international shipping corridor through which substantial quantities of oil and natural gas are transported.
The talks highlight the two countries’ continued diplomatic engagement on issues affecting regional security, maritime activity and bilateral relations.
