US Secret Service Investigates Threat Against Barron Trump
(MENAFN) The US Secret Service says it is aware of a video broadcast by Iranian state television that appears to issue a threat against Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump, according to reports.
The nearly three-minute video reportedly features locations associated with Barron, including Trump Tower in New York, while posing a direct question about where he could be killed. It also refers to a $10 million reward and suggests that individuals are interested in claiming the money.
“The US Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring told CNN.
“Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
The reported threat emerges amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran and follows a series of threats directed at Trump and members of his family by Iranian media.
Previous threats have reportedly focused on former US first lady Melania Trump, while the latest material appears to represent the first publicly reported threat specifically directed at Barron.
According to reports, the video forms part of a broader campaign targeting Trump and his relatives. Other material has reportedly included references to the family’s movements and statements encouraging violence against members of the Trump family.
The Secret Service continues to assess material that could pose a potential threat to individuals under its protection, while declining to provide further operational details.
