Israeli Strikes Kill Seven Palestinians in Gaza Despite Ceasefire
(MENAFN) At least seven Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, a local medical source said, as Israeli forces continued attacks despite a ceasefire that has been in effect since last October.
Among the latest deaths were two people who died from wounds sustained in earlier strikes.
A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital told media that three bodies were brought to the hospital following an Israeli strike on a home in Beit Lahia. Eyewitnesses said the targeted house stood near Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Beit Lahia Project area. Several others were wounded in the same strike, though the type of munitions used remains unclear. A medical source later confirmed to media that one victim, Taher Aouni Attallah, died of critical injuries from the attack.
Earlier in the day, a Palestinian man was killed in an Israeli drone strike in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, a medical source said. The same source reported that two more Palestinians died after being struck by Israeli gunfire, while another succumbed to injuries from Israeli shelling west of Khan Younis a day earlier, on Monday. A separate fatality was linked to an earlier Israeli strike on the Al-Amal neighborhood of Khan Younis several days prior.
Local sources also reported that Israeli military vehicles fired on homes and tents housing displaced residents south of Khan Younis. Israeli artillery reportedly struck the Bureij refugee camp and areas near the Wadi Gaza Bridge in central Gaza, while in the north, Israeli vehicles opened fire on homes in Beit Lahia amid heavy artillery bombardment, according to eyewitnesses.
The continued strikes come despite a public appeal from US President Donald Trump for Israel to cease its Gaza operations. In an Aug. 17 interview with Fox News, Trump said Israel "should not be striking in Gaza," adding that "Hamas agreed to lay down their weapons" under the terms of a US-backed peace plan.
Since the US-brokered ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,296 Palestinians and wounded 4,296 others, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. Gaza's Health Ministry says that since October 2023, the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip has killed more than 73,000 people and injured over 174,000 others — a war that Palestinian officials and some international bodies have characterized as genocidal, a designation Israel disputes.
