Russia, Ukraine Prepare New Large-Scale Prisoner Swap: Media
(MENAFN) Russia and Ukraine are gearing up for another major prisoner exchange, with officials on both sides working to finalize the lists of those who could be released, Russia's state news agency reported Wednesday.
Yana Lantratova, Russia's Commissioner for Human Rights, confirmed that preparations for the swap were underway.
"We are preparing another fairly large exchange; the lists are being finalized," Lantratova told the news agency.
The last major exchange took place on Aug. 19, when Russia and Ukraine each released 103 servicemen in a swap mediated by the United Arab Emirates.
Prisoner exchanges have remained among the few channels of practical cooperation between Moscow and Kyiv since the armed conflict erupted in 2022.
