Secret Service Suspends 3 Officials, Including Comms Chief, Amid Probe
(MENAFN) Three officials at the US Secret Service, including the agency's communications chief Anthony Guglielmi, have been placed on administrative leave as investigators examine allegations of misconduct, CNN reported Tuesday.
Citing a source familiar with the matter, CNN said all three officials work within the Secret Service's communications office and have since had their security clearances revoked and their government-issued devices taken away. The source noted such steps are routine practice during internal investigations.
The specific nature of the alleged misconduct remains unclear, according to the report.
The Secret Service confirmed to CNN that three non-law-enforcement employees had been placed on leave, though the agency declined to name them or disclose further details about the allegations.
"Three non-law enforcement personnel at the US Secret Service have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into potential misconduct," an agency spokesperson said Tuesday.
The spokesperson said the probe is being handled by the agency's Office of Professional Responsibility.
"The US Secret Service is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity," the agency added, stressing its core mission of protecting the president and other top government officials.
The investigation lands at a moment of intensifying scrutiny for the Secret Service, which has weathered a series of threats against President Donald Trump, including assassination attempts and other security scares.
The agency has also come under fire over how it handled information tied to a reported security operation during Trump's visit to Türkiye this summer. A leak investigation was launched after reports surfaced that Trump avoided using a plane gifted to him by Qatar due to fears of possible Iranian threats.
According to CNN, FBI Director Kash Patel helped launch that initial leak probe from within the White House.
