Türkiye Supports US Removal of Syria from Terrorism List
(MENAFN) Türkiye welcomes Washington’s decision to remove Syria from the US State Sponsors of Terrorism List, saying the move could help clear a major barrier standing in the way of Syria’s economic recovery and reconstruction.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry praises “the constructive approach of the US Administration,” saying Washington has shown “its resolve in this regard.” Ankara also welcomes support from the US Congress for the decision.
Türkiye congratulates the Syrian government and people for their “steadfastness,” while noting that it has consistently supported removing the country from the terrorism designation.
The ministry says the decision, which Türkiye “has also long advocated,” eliminates “one of the major obstacles to Syria’s economic recovery and reconstruction.”
Ankara also hopes the change will encourage Syria to expand its engagement with the international community and contribute to efforts aimed at achieving long-term security and stability.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry calls for broader international involvement in helping the country rebuild and recover from years of conflict.
“At this juncture, we call on the international community to join forces” to support Syria’s recovery, the statement said.
