Damascus Trade Fair Promotes Türkiye-Syria Investment
(MENAFN) The 63rd Damascus International Fair opens Tuesday in the Syrian capital, creating new opportunities for Türkiye and Syria to expand joint investments, strengthen local production and deepen economic ties, according to Türkiye’s trade minister.
Omer Bolat says representatives from the business communities of both countries are expected to meet for a roundtable during the long-running international trade event, which remains one of Syria’s most prominent commercial gatherings.
The fair attracted more than 800 companies from 44 countries and around two million visitors during its previous edition, highlighting its potential as a platform for international business cooperation.
Bolat says Türkiye is pursuing a long-term and sustainable strategy toward expanding trade with Syria, based on mutually beneficial economic cooperation. He points to the countries’ $3.7 billion trade volume last year as evidence of the strong foundation supporting their commercial relationship.
“Our trade volume surged over 16% on an annual basis in January-July this year, reaching $2.2 billion, something we deem extremely valuable for the future of our economic and trade relations,” he said.
Türkiye is also expanding its presence at this year’s fair. After participating with around 33 exhibitors last year, the country has been allocated a 120-square-meter exhibition area for the latest edition.
The Turkish pavilion is expected to feature a range of activities designed to showcase domestic products and encourage commercial engagement, including product tastings, cultural performances, folk dancing and other promotional events.
