Kremlin Dismisses Reports of New Russian Mobilization
(MENAFN) The Kremlin rejects reports that Russia is preparing another round of military mobilization, describing the claims as “information canards” and accusing Ukraine of attempting to create instability inside the country.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says the allegations are part of an effort by Ukrainian authorities to influence public sentiment and undermine domestic stability in Russia.
“You know, all of this is being planted by the Ukrainian authorities,” he said. “These are all just information canards, deliberately planted in the media.”
The dispute follows recent claims by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Moscow could call up between 300,000 and 500,000 additional troops after Russia holds its legislative elections in September. Zelenskyy has said the information is based on an intelligence assessment.
Russia previously carried out a partial mobilization in 2022 after President Vladimir Putin ordered 300,000 reservists to join the military.
Since then, Ukrainian officials have repeatedly warned that Moscow could launch another large-scale recruitment drive, while Russian authorities have continued to reject such reports.
