Ukrainian investigators said the drones tested between May and July differed from earlier AI-assisted weapons because the system could make the final strike decision without a human operator.
Earlier AI-guided drones generally retained a“human in the loop” mechanism, with a pilot required to confirm the target. AI was used mainly during the final part of the flight to help drones operate despite radio-frequency jamming.

The company added that the devices were not designed for military applications.
Nvidia said the Jetson line was not sold in Russia but was available through resale markets, adding that it cannot track secondary sales, NYT report stated.

Nvidia has highlighted civilian uses for the technology. Japanese manufacturer Musashi, for example, trained a Jetson computer to detect defects in vehicle gearboxes, replacing human inspectors for what the company described as“repetitive, stressful and not very engaging” work.
The use of the same class of technology in Russian weapons illustrates the challenge of controlling commercially available computing hardware once it enters global resale markets.
