Ukraine, Norway Strengthen Defense, Strategic Partnership
(MENAFN) Ukraine and Norway deepen their bilateral ties by signing new agreements covering defense cooperation and a broader strategic partnership.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store sign the agreements on Sunday, establishing a stronger framework for long-term collaboration in defense, energy and national resilience.
Zelenskyy expresses gratitude to Norway for maintaining strong support for Ukraine and committing billions of dollars in additional assistance for 2027.
“Together with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Store, we signed an Agreement on defence and security cooperation under the Drone Deal format and a Declaration on a Strategic Partnership – the Ellisiv Accord, named after the daughter of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, who became Queen of Norway,” Zelenskyy wrote.
Earlier, Store announces that Norway plans to provide Ukraine with 85 billion kroner ($9.2 billion) in fresh assistance during 2027. The package includes 70 billion kroner ($7.5 billion) designated for military needs and another 15 billion kroner ($1.6 billion) for civilian support.
The latest commitment represents the third consecutive year in which Norway plans to allocate 85 billion kroner annually to support Ukraine.
The newly signed agreements further expand cooperation between the two countries and reinforce their shared focus on security, defense and long-term stability.
