'Decisions For One Person Cannot Be Accepted,' Says Fazlur Rehman


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that recent legislation is contrary to the Constitution and that decisions made for the sake of an individual cannot be accepted. He said there is a need to bring about a change in the style and attitude of governance in the country.

Addressing a JUI convention in Peshawar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the government's writ was weakening and the law and order situation had also deteriorated. According to him, recent legislation has changed the powers of the prime minister.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said JUI had called for a joint opposition, but the legislation was passed by both the Senate and the National Assembly within half an hour.

He said that at present, any decision to divide provinces or create new provinces would not be appropriate, adding that such steps must be taken after careful consideration.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said it was necessary to remain sincere to the country and establish justice in society, adding that governance cannot be sustained through oppression.

He said no law contrary to the Quran and Sunnah can be passed by Parliament.
