Young Woman's Death Sparks Alleged Honour Killing Case In Khyber

LANDI KOTAL: A woman has alleged that her daughter was killed after being subjected to severe torture in the Sultan Khel area of Khyber district, police said.

According to the initial report registered at Landi Kotal Police Station, the case was registered as FIR No. 141/26 under Sections 302, 311 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The complainant, Somia Bibi, widow of Ajeebullah and a resident of Sultan Khel, told police that she had been expelled from her home by her brothers-in-law a few days earlier and was also separated from her children.

She said that around 1am on August 23, she received information that her eldest daughter, Maryam, had allegedly consumed poison and died.

According to the complainant, when she reached the house, she found Maryam's body lying alone in the veranda. She alleged that the body bore multiple signs of physical violence, leading her to suspect that her daughter had been severely tortured and killed.

The complaint named Shahwat Khan, Nadir Khan, Safiullah and Rajidullah, son of Shahwat Khan, alleging that they killed Maryam in the name of honour after accusing her of immoral conduct.

The complainant requested police to take legal action against the accused.

Police said the deceased had already been buried and that they would approach the court for permission to exhume the body. A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint and the investigation has been handed over to the relevant investigating officer.

The allegations contained in the FIR are subject to police investigation and judicial proceedings.
