Venezuela Faces New Tropical Waves After Flooding
(MENAFN) Venezuela prepares for the arrival of two additional tropical waves this week as authorities remain on alert following heavy rainfall that causes flooding and overflowing rivers in Caracas and nearby areas.
The country's meteorological authorities say tropical wave 41 is currently moving over northeastern French Guiana and is expected to enter Venezuela between Monday and Tuesday.
A second system, tropical wave 42, is traveling across the central tropical Atlantic and could reach the Essequibo region between Thursday and Friday.
Forecasters expect rain and thunderstorms of varying intensity across large parts of Venezuela on Sunday, with some areas likely to experience heavier precipitation.
The regions facing increased rainfall include Bolivar and Amazonas in the south, Anzoategui and Monagas in the east, Lara and Zulia in the west and northwest, as well as mountainous areas of the Andes.
The forecast comes after intense rainfall on Saturday triggers flooding and causes several rivers to overflow in Caracas and Miranda state.
More than 60 vehicles are affected after the Guaire River spills onto the Valle-Coche highway in the Venezuelan capital, according to reports.
