Ukraine Rejects Allegations Over Nord Stream 2 Pipeline Blast
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejects allegations that Kyiv was involved in the sabotage of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, while saying Ukraine is prepared to assist international efforts to establish what happened.
“Ukraine has officially never taken part in any operation related to the blowing up of Nord Stream 2,” Zelenskyy said during the Ukraine-Nordic-Baltic Eight summit in Kyiv.
He says the investigation into the September 2022 explosions remains ongoing, with authorities examining allegations, witness accounts and other available evidence.
Zelenskyy also says Ukraine has conducted high-level discussions with German officials regarding the case, claiming that Berlin is aware that Kyiv neither planned nor carried out the operation.
He adds that Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office and Foreign Ministry are prepared to communicate with officials from other countries and cooperate in efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the pipeline explosions.
“It is very important for us not to lose our partnership or the trust of European countries that have supported Ukraine since the beginning of this war,” Zelenskyy said.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian national is arrested in Croatia over alleged links to the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline sabotage. The arrest represents the second major detention in the investigation, following the arrest of a former Ukrainian soldier.
