Flooding Forces Families from Homes in South Kordofan, North Darfur
(MENAFN) Severe rains and flash floods force 63 families from their homes and damage or destroy 130 houses across parts of Sudan, according to reports.
In Al-Atafa village within the Al-Tadamon locality of South Kordofan, intense rainfall and flooding displace 49 families. The disaster completely destroys 49 homes and causes partial damage to another 38 houses.
The affected families move to makeshift shelters established in open areas elsewhere within the same locality as they seek temporary refuge from the flooding.
Flooding also affects the Kabkabiya locality in North Darfur, where 14 families are displaced following heavy rains on Thursday. Fourteen homes are reported destroyed, while another 29 shelters suffer partial damage.
Sudanese authorities do not immediately issue a statement regarding the reported damage or displacement.
Sudan regularly faces severe flooding during its annual rainy season, which generally extends from June through October, with heavy precipitation frequently causing widespread damage across the country.
