Putin Says Russian Fuel Market Faces Ongoing Problems
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledges that disruptions in the country's fuel market caused by Ukrainian attacks on energy facilities have not yet been completely resolved.
Putin says Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is overseeing efforts to address the consequences of the strikes against Russia's energy infrastructure.
"Just the day before yesterday, we met and discussed this issue with the prime minister. Yes, not all issues have been resolved yet, but they are being resolved. The prime minister is keeping these issues under control. A special commission has been established," he said.
The Russian leader also confirms that the attacks have damaged energy infrastructure and created difficulties for residents.
"Yes, of course, there are certain inconveniences for people, but the government must, of course, keep this under control," he said.
Putin also comments on remarks by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk concerning the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. He says he understands Warsaw's position regarding calls not to prosecute individuals accused of destroying the pipeline.
According to Putin, Poland previously stood to gain transit revenue from the project, but those potential earnings were lost after the pipeline's planned route was shifted away from Polish territory and toward the Baltic Sea.
