'Traffic Delayed Me By Just A Few Minutes,' Man Shares Chilling Near-Miss From Gurugram Burger King AC Blast

(MENAFN- Live Mint) An AC compressor explosion at a Burger King outlet in Gurugram's Sector 14 triggered panic among customers and people in the surrounding market on Saturday night, August 22. While the incident caused damage to the restaurant's glass fixtures, no injuries or casualties were reported, according to police.

The incident has now drawn attention online after an Instagram user named Sudeep Verma shared a video showing people rushing out of the area following the blast. Alongside the video, Sudeep spoke about a personal connection to the incident - he was supposed to be at the same outlet that night but was delayed by traffic.

Sharing his experience on Instagram, Sudeep wrote,“Sometimes, a delay is not a setback - it can be a blessing in disguise.”

He said the explosion took place at around 10 pm on August 22 and that he was expected to be at the outlet around the same time.

“I was supposed to be there too, but traffic delayed me by just a few minutes,” he wrote.

Sudeep said that after learning about the blast, the delay that had initially seemed frustrating took on a completely different meaning.

“When I came to know about the incident, that small delay suddenly felt very different,” he said.

He also highlighted the fact that no one was injured in the incident, calling that the“biggest relief”.

“We often get frustrated when life makes us late, but sometimes we may never know what that delay saved us from,” he added.

Sudeep's post struck a chord with other social media users, with several people sharing their own experiences of being at or near the market when the incident occurred.

One user commented,“I have been there and seen whole incident.”

Another recalled the confusion immediately after the explosion, writing,“I was in the market at the time.... Initially people rumored a cylinder blast but later it was clarified that I was the AC.”

A third user described an even narrower near-miss, saying,“Same bhai 10 sec ka difference tha mra bhi.”

The explosion took place late Saturday night at the Burger King outlet in Sector 14, Gurugram. The blast shattered glass fixtures at the restaurant, with shards scattered across the premises. People at nearby shops also rushed outside amid the sudden commotion, news agency PTI reported.

Police said there were no injuries in the incident.

Following the explosion, local residents and the restaurant management alerted the police and fire department. A police patrol team and fire brigade personnel from the Bhimnagar fire station subsequently reached the spot.

As a precaution, officials cleared people from the area surrounding the restaurant and brought the situation under control.

A senior police officer said the timely response helped prevent the situation from turning into a major accident. Further investigation into the incident is underway.

For Sudeep, however, the incident offered a more personal reminder of how unpredictable everyday life can be. A few minutes spent sitting in traffic - something that would ordinarily be a source of frustration - meant he was not at the outlet when the compressor exploded.

While it cannot be established that the delay directly“saved” him, the timing of the incident and his experience have prompted social media users to reflect on the unexpected ways in which seemingly insignificant moments can sometimes change the course of a day.
