Mike Pence, Keith Kellogg Join International Forum Of Conservative Politics In Kyiv

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) As reported by an Ukrinform correspondent, the event brought together more than 1,000 participants, including Mike Pence, the 48th Vice President of the United States, and retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg, former U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine.

According to the forum's coordinator, former Member of Parliament Pavlo Unhurian, participants discussed national security and defense, as well as free markets and the economy through community development.

“But the first and second are possible only when they are built on values that have stood the test of centuries. These are faith, a strong family and patriotism,” he emphasized.

Mike Pence, for his part, recalled that the Soviet Union“collapsed under the weight of its corruption and oppression.” According to him, the world learned a lesson from that experience: empires built on lies cannot stand the test of time.

The former U.S. Vice President stressed that governments founded on fear cannot prevail.

“The final word does not belong to the tyrant – it belongs to God. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is and will be freedom,” Pence said.

Keith Kellogg recalled landmark events in Ukraine's development as an independent state: 30 years of Ukraine's Constitution, the creation of the armed forces, the restoration of state symbols and the national currency.

During the forum, the launch of the Faith and Freedom Center, a think tank that will develop documents and recommendations on applying conservative approaches to Ukraine's reconstruction, was also announced. It will serve as a platform for engagement with Western conservatives.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, said that establishing the Faith and Freedom Center ahead of Ukraine's 35th anniversary of independence was an appropriate instrument for coordinating free nations.

“It will bring together Ukraine, the United States and most of the civilized world. We are creating another platform to ensure our common security,” the head of the Presidential Office said.

As reported, foreign guests, including the heads of several states and governments, arrived in Kyiv for the National Flag Day and ahead of Ukraine's Independence Day.
