Norway Pledges USD9.2B in Fresh Aid to Ukraine for 2027
(MENAFN) Norway will send Ukraine 85 billion krone — roughly $9.2 billion — in new assistance in 2027, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store announced during a Sunday visit to Kyiv.
"Norway will continue to support Ukraine's defense struggle," Store said, according to a Norwegian broadcaster.
"Now we are sending a clear signal that Norway will continue to stand by, both civilian and military," he added.
The package splits the funds between 70 billion krone ($7.5 billion) earmarked for military support and 15 billion krone ($1.6 billion) directed toward civilian assistance. With this pledge, Norway will have delivered the same 85-billion-krone sum in annual aid for three straight years.
Store touched down in Kyiv on Sunday, traveling alongside fellow leaders from Nordic and Baltic nations.
"Every day, the Ukrainian people live with the consequences of Russia's brutal war," he said.
He linked the funding decision to the intensifying barrage of Russian missile and drone strikes hitting Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, saying civilians were being "systematically targeted."
"At the same time, Ukraine continues its fight for freedom, independence and the right to determine its own future," Store said. "Therefore, it is important that Norway continues to stand with the Ukrainians."
