US Tanker Aircraft Departs Bulgaria’s Bezmer Air Base

(MENAFN) A US Air Force tanker aircraft stationed at Bulgaria’s Bezmer Air Base departs the country on Friday, Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov says Saturday.

Speaking to reporters during a ceremony commemorating the 149th anniversary of the Battle of Shipka, Stoyanov confirms the aircraft has left the Bulgarian military facility and departed the country.

He says Bulgarian authorities coordinated “in close coordination with the US government” throughout the aircraft’s deployment.

“We had advance information, and our decisions were based on clear and accurate information, not on conspiracy theories,” Stoyanov said.

The minister explains that all flights conducted by the aircraft during its stay were training missions carried out over the airspace of allied countries located west and northwest of Bulgaria.

He stresses that the aircraft did not conduct flights toward the south, distinguishing its activities from an earlier exercise involving 15 aircraft at Vasil Levski Airport, which he says supported combat operations.
