Northern Cyprus Stresses Turkish Forces’ Role in Regional Security
(MENAFN) The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus stresses the importance of maintaining the Turkish military presence on the island, describing it as a key factor in preserving security and stability in the region.
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu makes the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Land Forces Commander Gen. Metin Tokel, who visits the island to inspect the Turkish Cypriot Peacekeeping Forces Command.
"The existence of Turkish army in Cyprus has a critical importance," said Ertugruloglu.
He emphasizes the role of the Turkish military in maintaining peace and protecting the Turkish Cypriot community.
"Turkish Armed Forces is the guarantee for security and peace in the island," said Ertugruloglu.
Ertugruloglu further describes the continued presence of Turkish forces as essential to the community’s safety and future.
"The existence of the Turkish army on the island is the strongest guarantee of Turkish Cypriots' peace, existence, security and feature," he futher said.
