Netanyahu Turns to Anti-Türkiye Rhetoric as Likud Loses Support
(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is increasingly using anti-Türkiye rhetoric in his election campaign as his Likud party faces declining support in public opinion surveys and Washington pressures Israel to halt attacks against Iran and Lebanon.
Netanyahu has faced years of political and legal difficulties, including corruption allegations, and became the first sitting Israeli prime minister to go on trial in connection with such cases.
His political conduct during the Gaza war has also drawn criticism inside Israel, with opponents accusing him of escalating regional tensions in an effort to preserve his political position.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu on Nov. 21, 2024, accusing him of war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
His government has also expanded military operations beyond Gaza, with Israel carrying out attacks against several countries and territories across the region.
Under Netanyahu’s leadership, Israel launches two separate military campaigns against Lebanon, with one taking place in 2024 and another in 2026.
