Fire-Affected Area In Drevlyansky Nature Reserve In Zhytomyr Region Expands To 49 Hectares


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was reported on Faceboo by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Zhytomyr region, according to Ukrinform.

“Rescue workers and foresters continue to extinguish a ground-level forest fire that broke out in the Drevlyansky Nature Reserve in the Korosten district. The firefighting efforts are being hampered by weather conditions-high air temperatures, strong gusts of wind in some areas, and the inaccessibility of certain sections of the forest,” the statement reads.

It is reported that as of the evening of August 22, the area affected by the ground-level forest fire-which is spreading in separate pockets-had increased to nearly 49 hectares.

Sixty-four rescue workers and nature reserve staff, as well as 15 pieces of equipment, are involved in extinguishing the fire.

As reported by Ukrinform, a forest fire covering an are of nearly 4 hectares is being extinguished in the“Drevlyansky” Nature Reserve in Zhytomyr region.
