UN Security Council To Address Russia's War Against Ukraine On Ukraine's Independence Day
The discussion was initiated by five European members of the Security Council – Denmark, France, Greece, Latvia, and the United Kingdom.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen is expected to chair the meeting, as Denmark holds the Security Council presidency in August.
UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher will brief the Council.
The meeting will begin at 15:00 Eastern Time (22:00 Kyiv time).

On August 10, the Council held an informal Arria-formula meeting to discuss Russia's violations of international humanitarian law involving Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians in captivity.
