Trump Hails Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace During Talks with Aliyev, Pashinyan
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump emphasized the progress toward lasting peace in the South Caucasus during separate phone conversations Saturday with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
During his discussion with Trump, Pashinyan expressed appreciation for the US president’s role in organizing the Washington peace summit held on Aug. 8, 2025, as well as his participation as a witness in the signing of the joint declaration reached at the meeting.
Pashinyan highlighted what he described as the “decisive” contribution of Trump’s personal efforts to advancing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that the Washington Peace Summit has led to real peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is seen and felt by the peoples of both countries,” the statement said.
The two leaders also reviewed the latest developments surrounding the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a project intended to strengthen regional connectivity.
“Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Trump reaffirmed their determination to begin construction of TRIPP in the near future,” the statement said.
The conversation also covered additional bilateral matters and issues of international significance.
