Pashinyan Says Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Is Now “Visible and Tangible”
(MENAFN) Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Saturday that the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan one year ago has produced clear and noticeable results, describing the Aug. 8, 2025 agreement as a major turning point in Armenia’s history.
Pashinyan said the Armenian government now refers to the trilateral meeting held at the White House with US President Donald Trump as the “Peace Summit,” while the document signed by the participating sides is called the “Peace Declaration.”
“The peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan is visible and tangible to everyone,” Pashinyan said.
He also pointed to Armenia’s June 7 parliamentary elections, saying voters once again demonstrated their backing for the peace process. At the same time, he acknowledged that the process remains incomplete and still faces further steps before it can be considered finalized.
According to Pashinyan, the peace agreement that was initialed by the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington last year has yet to be formally signed and ratified. He added that the process of determining and marking the countries’ shared border also remains unfinished.
Reflecting on the significance of Aug. 8, 2025, Pashinyan described the date as a historic dividing point for Armenia. He said the country had previously found itself in an “impasse,” whereas the agreement has opened the way toward what he characterized as “boundless prospects.”
