Global Tourism Investment Tops USD 1Tr In 2025: WTTC

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Global investment in the travel and tourism sector surpassed USD 1 trillion in 2025, highlighting growing confidence in the industry's long-term prospects despite ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainties, according to the latest research by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

The WTTC's Global Trends Report revealed that travel and tourism investment increased by 8.5 percent year-on-year in 2025, while the sector contributed a record USD 11.6 trillion to global GDP, outperforming the broader global economy.

According to the report, the United States, China, India, and Saudi Arabia accounted for nearly half of global tourism-related capital investment last year, investing close to USD 500 billion collectively. The four countries continue to expand infrastructure, improve connectivity and introduce policies aimed at strengthening their tourism industries.

WTTC President and CEO Gloria Guevara said sustained investment remains essential for creating jobs, improving destinations and driving long-term economic growth.

The report highlighted Spain as one of Europe's strongest tourism success stories, while also identifying Indonesia, the Netherlands, Rwanda, Singapore, and Thailand among markets expected to see significant growth over the next decade.

Looking ahead, WTTC forecasts the travel and tourism sector will contribute USD 17.1 trillion to the global economy by 2036 and support nearly 89 million additional jobs, driven by continued investment, supportive government policies and rising global travel demand.
