Iran Rejects Allegations Over Projectiles Fired from Iraq Toward KSA
(MENAFN) Iran dismissed claims on Wednesday that it was involved in the launch of projectiles from Iraq toward Saudi Arabia, denying responsibility for the recent attempted attacks on the kingdom.
An Iranian military official said accusations linking Tehran to attacks targeting US interests in the region were unfounded, describing such claims as "a grave mistake stemming from ignorance of the situation in the region," according to official statements.
The official also "strongly denied any connection between projectiles fired from other countries toward targets in Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran."
The response followed an announcement from Saudi authorities that the country's air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed several drones aimed at petroleum facilities in the Eastern Province.
According to Saudi officials, the drones originated from Iraqi territory and were launched by armed groups backed by Iran.
