Dr. Tekena Gasper Mark is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. His research interests encompass Directing, Theatre and Migration Studies, Ecocriticism, Digital Performance and Cultural Studies. His book, Directing the Play (2023), serves as both a manual for directors and a documentation of directing techniques employed by notable Western directors as well as directors from West, South, North, and East Africa. In addition to exploring various stage orientations such as the arena, proscenium, thrust, traverse, and African traditional theatre stages, the book engages concepts like blocking, movement, directorial concept, and approach. Dr. Mark holds a Ph.D. in Play Directing and teaches courses on directing, playwriting, dramatic theory and criticism, and music theatre.
