Russia Reinstates Wheat Export Tax Amid Rising Prices And Supply Concerns
Moscow, July 12 (Petra) -- The Russian government announced on Sunday the reinstatement of its wheat export tax, just one week after exempting exports from it, driven by expectations of lower global production and ongoing supply pressures during the 2026-2027 agricultural season to tighten control over export movements.
The Russian government said in a statement that the decision followed a rise in the reference price of Russian wheat in export markets from $233.8 to $239.4 per ton. This increase crossed the threshold that automatically triggers the reapplication of the tax under the mechanism adopted since 2020.
