Russia Achieves Record Wheat Exports to Tanzania
(MENAFN) Russia exported a record amount of wheat to Tanzania during the 2025/26 season, shipping more than 850,000 tons, according to reports citing data from the country's agricultural export agency.
According to reports, the total represents a 16% increase compared with the previous season and stands 47% above the average recorded over the past five years.

Reports said Russia has continued to strengthen its position in the East African market, with exporters steadily increasing supplies to the region in recent years.
According to estimates from the US Department of Agriculture, Tanzania imported approximately 1.5 million tons of wheat during the 2025/26 season. That figure was about 200,000 tons higher than the previous year and marked the country's highest annual wheat import volume on record.
According to reports, member states of the East African Community have become an increasingly significant destination for Russian wheat exports. Combined shipments to the regional bloc reached roughly 3.5 million tons during the 2025/26 season, representing a 26% increase from a year earlier and accounting for around 16% to 17% of Russia's wheat exports to Africa.
Reports identified Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda as the largest buyers of Russian wheat within the regional grouping.
The milestone in Tanzania comes as Russia continues expanding its grain exports across Africa. According to reports, shipments to Kenya climbed 10% year-on-year to around 1.4 million tons through late May of the current season.
Reports also said wheat exports to Egypt rose by 19% this year, while deliveries to Sudan increased by 78%.
