Real Chemistry Establishes First APAC Hub With Spurwing Acquisition
(MENAFN- PRovoke)
SINGAPORE - Healthcare communications firm Real Chemistry has established its first Asia-Pacific strategic hub through the acquisition of Singapore-based healthcare communications agency Spurwing Communications, marking a significant expansion of the firm's international footprint as it looks to capitalise on growing demand from healthcare and pharmaceutical clients across the region.
The acquisition gives the US-headquartered healthcare communications firm a permanent strategic base in Singapore, strengthening its presence in one of the world's fastest-growing healthcare markets while adding local expertise across integrated communications, medical affairs and strategic consultancy. The move also expands Real Chemistry's capabilities in analytics, medical communications, advertising and strategic communications across Asia-Pacific.
The deal reflects increasing investment by global healthcare communications firms in Asia-Pacific, as pharmaceutical companies accelerate commercialisation efforts and healthcare innovation across the region. Real Chemistry said APAC is becoming "one of the most dynamic and strategically important regions for healthcare innovation and access to life-improving therapies," with the acquisition enabling it to deliver more connected, data-driven and culturally relevant engagement for healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers.
Founded in Singapore, Spurwing Communications has built a reputation advising pharmaceutical and healthcare organisations across Asia-Pacific, alongside clients in other sectors. The agency is known for its strategic communications and medical affairs expertise, as well as its understanding of the region's diverse healthcare markets.
As part of the acquisition, Spurwing founder and chief executive Emma Thompson will continue to lead the business in the newly created role of president, APAC growth, reporting to Kath Harrison, Real Chemistry's group president, international growth.
Thompson said joining Real Chemistry would allow the agency to expand its regional offering while maintaining the senior strategic counsel that has underpinned its client relationships. She added that the combined business would introduce new capabilities, including analytics and AI, to complement its existing communications offering.
Real Chemistry chief executive Shankar Narayanan described the acquisition as an important milestone in the company's global growth strategy, saying the expanded APAC presence would help clients navigate increasingly complex global commercialisation challenges while supporting them across the full healthcare lifecycle, from strategy through engagement.
The company also signalled that the Singapore hub is the first step in a broader regional expansion, with additional hires and market expansion plans expected to be announced in the coming months as it scales its APAC hub model and affiliate network.
