Cargo Ship Attacked Off Yemen's Red Sea Coast
(MENAFN) A cargo vessel came under assault Sunday in waters off Yemen's Red Sea coastline, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center.
UKMTO said it had logged a report of an incident occurring 30 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudaydah.
"A cargo vessel has triggered a distress alert stating that they are under attack by unknown armed assailants," the agency said in a post on X.
Officials are now looking into the incident, UKMTO said, and called on ships transiting the area to remain vigilant and flag "any suspicious activity" they encounter.
