South Korea to Launch Fourth Earth Observation Satellite on SpaceX Rocket

Date:

(MENAFN) South Korea is preparing to launch its fourth medium-sized Earth observation satellite aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Tuesday, according to local media reports.

The 500-kilogram satellite has reportedly completed final functional checks and fuel loading over the past month and is now in launch readiness, as stated by the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) via reports.

After liftoff, the satellite is expected to separate from the rocket about 2 hours and 22 minutes into the flight, with initial communication scheduled roughly 31 minutes later via the Svalbard ground station in Norway.

Equipped with domestically developed instruments, including an imaging system capable of photographing the entire Korean Peninsula every three days, the satellite is designed for multiple uses.

Its applications are expected to include agriculture monitoring, forest management, disaster response, climate and environmental analysis, and improvements in public safety, according to reports.
