Xi Jinping Vows Long-Term Stability in China–North Korea Relations

Date:

(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed readiness to work closely with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to guide bilateral relations toward stable and long-term development, according to reports from North Korean state media on Sunday.

Xi made the remarks in a message responding to Kim’s congratulations marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, as stated by official reports.

In his message, Xi thanked Kim for the gesture and described both North Korea’s Workers’ Party and China’s Communist Party as “Marxist ruling parties.”

“I am ready to lead the China-DPRK relations to a long-term, sound and stable development and thus promote the stable and long-term development of the socialist cause of the two countries,” the message read.

North Korea and China have also been marking the 65th anniversary of their Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance signed on July 11, while Xi recently completed a state visit to Pyongyang, his first in seven years.
