China Tightens Export Controls on Japanese Entities in Latest Policy Move
(MENAFN) China has added 20 Japanese entities, including the National Institute for Defense Studies, to its export control list over what it described as dual-use concerns, according to reports on Monday.
The Commerce Ministry said the decision was taken to protect national security and interests while also meeting international obligations related to non-proliferation.
Under the new restrictions, export operators are prohibited from supplying dual-use items to the listed entities. In addition, overseas organizations and individuals are barred from transferring or providing China-origin dual-use goods to them.
The ministry also stated that all related activities must be terminated immediately.
In a separate explanation, it said the final users and end uses of dual-use products linked to the 20 Japanese entities could not be properly verified. It added that stricter scrutiny would now be applied to exports involving entities placed under watchlist controls.
