China, Russia Conduct 11th Joint Air Patrol Over Western Pacific Region

Date:

(MENAFN) China and Russia have carried out their 11th joint strategic air patrol, flying coordinated missions across the Sea of Japan, the East China Sea, and the western Pacific Ocean, according to reports.

The patrol involved military aircraft from both countries operating in designated airspace as part of ongoing annual cooperation between the two militaries. Officials in Beijing said the operation demonstrated the two sides’ ability and commitment to jointly maintain regional stability and peace.

South Korea reported that around ten Chinese and Russian aircraft briefly entered its air defense identification zone over waters to the east and south of the Korean Peninsula. However, authorities emphasized that the aircraft did not violate South Korean territorial airspace.

In response, South Korea’s military monitored the activity closely and deployed fighter jets as a precautionary measure while tracking the formation until it left the zone.

According to reports, the flights appear to have occurred in connection with the joint patrol activity, which has become a recurring feature of China–Russia military coordination in the region.
