Slovenia Reaffirms Commitment to International Law in Stance on Palestine
(MENAFN) Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar has reiterated her position on the Israel-Palestine conflict, stressing that her stance is guided by international law and humanitarian principles, even amid policy differences with the country’s new government.
Her remarks come as internal disagreements emerge between the presidency and the government led by Prime Minister Janez Janša over Slovenia’s approach toward Israel and Palestine.
In comments to Slovenian Television, Pirc Musar addressed recent tensions following the removal of a Palestinian flag from a government building, while she continued to describe Israel’s actions in Gaza in strongly critical terms.
She emphasized a consistent position grounded in legal and humanitarian norms, stating: “First of all, I would like to make this clear: we stand on the side of humanity, international law and international humanitarian law.”
She added: “Within this legal framework, I will not go beyond my values or the principles of international law. My path here is clear. I will always stand on the side of international law, on the side of humanity, and I will always advocate a two-state solution,”
