Czech Republic to Introduce School Mobile Phone Ban Starting 2027
(MENAFN) The Czech Republic plans to implement nationwide restrictions on mobile phone use in schools beginning in September 2027, Prime Minister Andrej Babis announced on Monday.
In a video message shared on US social media platform X, Babis said he had reached an agreement with Education Minister Robert Plaga on legislation aimed at regulating students’ use of mobile devices during school hours.
According to the prime minister, the new rules will prohibit mobile phones in classrooms for all pupils of compulsory school age. The restrictions will also apply during breaks between lessons.
The planned legislation follows recent government discussions on measures designed to improve the educational environment and reduce distractions in schools.
At present, individual schools are responsible for setting their own policies on mobile phone use, but the proposed law would establish a uniform national framework, according to reports.
