G7 Welcomes US-Iran Agreement
In a statement issued at the conclusion of its summit in France, the group said it welcomed the agreement reached between Washington and Tehran, with the support of mediating countries, considering it an important opportunity to enhance security and stability in the Middle East, and affirming its readiness to contribute to its implementation.
The G7 leaders also expressed support for reaching a comprehensive diplomatic agreement following the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, with the aim of promoting peace and security across the region.
The G7 further welcomed the "independent multinational defensive initiative" led by France and the United Kingdom to facilitate the resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, considering it capable of playing an important role in safeguarding commercial vessels, reassuring shipping companies, and supporting efforts to verify the removal of all mines from the strategic waterway.
