Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Targeted Key Russian Energy, Military Sites
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces carried out strikes against strategic facilities inside Russia, including an oil installation in the Yaroslavl region that he described as significant to the country's fuel reserves.
In a statement posted on X, Zelenskyy also said Ukraine targeted the Azot chemical plant in Russia's Tula region, claiming the facility plays an important role in Russia’s explosives production.
According to Zelenskyy, the attacks led to flight restrictions at six Russian airports, while air raid alerts were issued across 28 regions of Russia beginning Saturday evening.
He further stated that Ukrainian forces struck Russian military logistics infrastructure located in territories of Ukraine currently under Russian control.
"Ukraine is carrying out its plan of long-range sanctions against Russia and the assigned tasks regarding mid-range strikes in response to Russia’s refusal to end this war," he said.
Zelenskyy added that Kyiv had proposed multiple avenues for negotiations with Moscow but argued that Russia had responded with “continued aggression and attempts to expand it.”
"It stands to reason that the war is coming back to where it came from," Zelenskyy said.
