Pentagon Releases New Batch of Declassified UFO Records
(MENAFN) The US Department of Defense has published a third set of declassified files related to unidentified flying objects, adding 72 new reports, witness accounts, photographs, and videos as part of an ongoing transparency initiative, according to reports.
The release continues a broader government effort ordered earlier this year to disclose records involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), the official term used by US military agencies instead of UFOs.
Officials described the initiative as a “historic transparency effort” aimed at making previously classified materials accessible to the public.
Among the newly released documents are descriptions of unusual aerial sightings, including a “potato-shaped” object reported by military personnel, repeated observations of glowing spherical lights, and a CIA-recorded account of a rotating disc-shaped object allegedly seen above Harare International Airport in Zimbabwe in 2008.
The disclosure follows earlier releases that began in May, when roughly 160 classified documents, photos, and videos were made public from multiple US agencies, including the Pentagon, FBI, NASA, and the State Department. A second batch was released later in the month, adding further footage and witness testimony.
