DR Congo’s Ebola Cases Rise as Authorities Reject Lockdown Rumors
(MENAFN) The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has increased to 710, including 149 deaths, according to the country’s health ministry cited in reports.
Officials said the case fatality rate currently stands at 21.0 percent, with 324 patients either isolated or hospitalized and 35 recoveries recorded so far.
Authorities also dismissed rumors circulating on social media about a nationwide lockdown, stressing that no such measures have been imposed or are under consideration.
The health ministry said government agencies, provincial authorities, and response partners are continuing coordinated efforts to contain the outbreak, including surveillance, patient treatment, contact tracing, targeted vaccination, risk communication, and community outreach.
Officials urged the public to rely only on verified information from official channels and avoid spreading misinformation.
